USA vs. Argentina

In the USA, we are a teaching and guiding fishing organization.  In Argentina, we offer a unique experience called guided DIY fishing.

USA Mission

We recognize that anglers want to catch fish; lots of fish and BIG ones at that.  We can help you catch fish, but we also want you to know that we are educators first, guides second. Our core believe is...

  • Fly fishing is an intellectual, physical and emotional activity.  We have developed a series of educational fly casting and fly fishing classes based on the principles of Emotional Intelligence. We call it the E.I. Fly Fishing System™  Our instruction and guiding is strongly rooted in a platform which focuses on the Science and Art of fly fishing (not necessarily the biggest fish, or the quantity of fish caught).

Over 200 years ago, my family emigrated from Ireland to Tilting, New Foundland. Tilting is located on Fogo Island and for decades the Foley’s earned a living as in-shore Cod fisherman. I have visited Tilting, but I grew up fishing trout streams and the coastal waters of New England.  My love for fishing and adventure travel has led me to places such as Alaska, British Columbia, Montana, New Zealand, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Africa and more.  In fact, in 1999, I spent one year DIY fishing and hiking the Andes mountain range (from Tierra del Fuego to southern Columbia, and from the Galapagos Islands to Brazil).  Since then, I have regularly returned to fish South America, and at one time, I managed an Orvis endorsed fly-fishing lodge in Argentina. As you can imagine, my fly-fishing adventures around the world have provided many wonderful life experiences. As such, I love to share my global fishing experiences by hosting anglers on national and international trips. When I am home in the U.S.A., I am busy teaching, guiding, and doing my part to make my fishing community a better place.

How it Began: Mark's First Fish on a Fly Rod

    Community First Approach

For much of his life, Mark has actively worked to help people better themselves and enhance their community -- it's all about social responsibility.  Though he works with well established groups such as Trout Unlimited and the NH Fish-n-Game, much of his work is done behind the scenes, one-on-one with individuals or small groups. Examples are:

    • To raise money, Mark has donated hundreds of auction items to non-profit groups throughout New England (many of the groups are non-fishing related).
    • Regularly volunteers at both fishing and non-fishing community non-profit groups. For example, he helps young adults with life challenges, and teaches fishing at local youth centers.
    • Created the fishing classes at the Dover and Exeter Adult Education Centers.
    • For donations only, he teaches classes at libraries and park-n-recreation departments.
    • Helped create several fly tying groups on the seacoast of New Hampshire.
    • Created community river cleanup programs.
    • Initiated, and co-created the fly fishing club at Phillips Exeter Academy.
    • Restructured Great Bay Trout Unlimited's technology and social media platform, resulting in new memberships and an annual savings of $3K.
    • Re-designed the fund raising campaign at Three Rivers Stocking Association.  During his tenure, money raised at auctions went from $1,500 to $15,000. Today, TRSA continues to use this model and each year they successfully raise well over $5,000 (individual anglers and families now enjoy GREAT fishing on local rivers).
